Episode 48: “For a World of Love & Peace” (ラブ&ピースの世界へ)

Time for an entire episode of fighting! Everyone does their best khổng lồ take Evol on, and we also get lớn learn what Sento wanted to tell Ryuga before at their cookout: Only Ryuga can save their world because he has the Evolt DNA lớn make stuff happen with the trắng panel. He starts using the Hazard Trigger with his Cross-Z Magma form, gets in some good hits, but in the end, Evol is still too strong.

Eventually, Evol manages to lớn get back the two bottles và return khổng lồ his final quái vật form, which is BAD. Evolt opens up a đen hole which absorbs their goddamn moon, which… actually probably won’t affect them in the long run according to Dragon Ball. But he also starts tearing at the Earth, which is definitely going khổng lồ be a problem.

When Misora is begging for Vernage’s help, Evolt tries khổng lồ destroy her, only for Rogue to lớn take the hit for her. He’s already getting that death aura, but he takes Evolt head on.

We also once again come back to that cookout where Kazumi talked to lớn Gentoku about being a political figure once this was all over, and… at this point I understood Gentoku - even after all he’s doing to lớn save the world, he feels lượt thích he’s yet lớn really make up for who he was, & that’s pretty damn interesting since he was under some nebula gas influence until becoming a hero. Even more interesting is the fact that Kazumi says he’s forgiven Gentoku for everything, và that’s pretty big of him to do. No wonder Gentoku reacted lớn his death so intensely…

Rogue, unfortunately, bites off more than he can chew as he tries to fight a god mode Evolt. His helmet gets broken, which only makes things look even more grim - as he seems lớn be falling, however, the people of the đô thị are screaming và cheering for the Kamen Riders, which I must say, is goddamn powerful. Rogue is living by his father’s words: It’s not about the person in power, is about the people who put them in power. MANLY TEARS MOMENT.

While his attacks seem to lớn be amounting to lớn little, Rogue seems to be onto something with attacking Evolt’s Evol Trigger. However… he can’t fight his fate, và ultimately his transformation disengages, leaving a weakened Gentoku khổng lồ question… did he measure up khổng lồ his father at all after this? With a beautiful shot where Rogue’s shadow can be seen on the wall next khổng lồ him, Gentoku fades away…

I’ll be honest, this character started out as a bit of a nothing character to lớn me. I’ve said it before: After episode 1, there were at least 1-2 people telling me every week, if not every other day, that Gentoku is gonna turn out lớn be Night Rogue. It was obvious, và I found Blood Stalk more interesting. To me Night Rogue seemed like one of THOSE Rider villains: The one who’s gonna stick around until the hero gets their first power-up form, then gets killed off. Phoenix, Javert, Graphite, just characters made khổng lồ be a really strong obstacle that makes the power-up more impressive. I didn’t invest in him for that reason.

But Gentoku stuck around. He disappeared for a bit, then came back as the grim Kamen Rider Rogue. Và while he was very cool visually, I described that period as “Comically edgy Gentoku” because he was just leaning too far into grim territory. But once we got the implication that he was starting to thua trận that nebula gas edge, & was starting lớn show some heroism, then he got interesting. I mean, maybe they could have used at least one line to explain his turn khổng lồ comedy, but besides that, I really like him now that he’s become one of the heroes. He will truly, truly be missed.

Build & Cross-Z Magma transform, powered by the screams for justice still cheering them on, and suddenly… Evolt has trouble moving. It seems that Gentoku’s death wasn’t in vain, as the Evol Trigger has some lasting damage. The two Rider Kick the bottles out of him again, and this time, Cross-Z Magma runs at him with the trắng panel to fuse them together, causing the black panel to disappear.

With the trắng panel attached khổng lồ the Pandora’s Box they brought, a beam shoots out into the đen hole… and out of it comes another Earth, one without a Skywall. Evolt is given some heroic monologuing lớn explain that their plan was lớn use his energy with this beam lớn fuse these two Earths, forming a world without the Skywall & without Evolt’s presence. Shockingly, the Genius Fullbottle’s power nguồn gets absorbed, leaving Build with one less power-up.

As Build prepares to lớn send Evolt flying, Cross-Z Magma shoves him aside, causing his suit to dematerialize. He tells Sento that he’s got Evolt’s DNA in him, so obviously… he should be the one lớn finish the job. Cross-Z Magma propels himself into space, leaving Sento screaming his name!

So… that was Kamen Rider Build. It was– actually, it’s better if I let the đánh giá end here. This is long as is, so I’ll be giving my overall thoughts of the show in a separate post. Mostly positive, some small nitpicks, and perhaps it’s worth talking more about the ending. Til then!

What an emotional gut-punch this entire episode was. In 23 short minutes, many previously-understood aspects of the story are turned on their heads and we are taken for a ride in terms of kích hoạt pieces & heartfelt moments of character development. Before we begin, though, we will be discussing spoilers for this episode, so if you have not seen episode 47 of Kamen Rider Build, I suggest you watch it before reading further.

The moment we have all been expecting for a few weeks now has finally come to lớn pass. Sawatari Kazumi, Kamen Rider Grease, falls in battle this week and joins his friends, the Hokuto Three. In his last moments, he regrets allowing himself khổng lồ die và leave his friends behind. In addition, we learn that Kamen Rider Mad Rogue, Utsumi, has been secretly working against Evolt from the beginning, plotting his revenge on Evolt for the murder of Nanba Juusaburou at the beginning of the Evolt Phase 3 arc. As Utsumi puts it, “The basic Rider System is insufficient,” and so he decides to bide his time. This week, he strikes.

Utsumi và Gentoku take on the cloned Hell
Bros

This whole episode comes with an emotional weight & gravitas that, lớn me, is very reminiscent of the same point in Kamen Rider Gaim, though in that series, we were losing 2-3 major players in every single episode until only the title character remained. The contrasting fights this week are phối up extremely well, with Kazumin taking on the clones of his deceased friends while Gentoku và Utsumi face off against Evolt và a reborn Bi
Kaiser or Hell
Bros, created from Evolt’s DNA. They are victorious in recovering a Lost Bottle after this battle, but Evolt himself appears and makes quick work of Utsumi, who is also killed this week.

Utsumi’s kết thúc adds a new màn chơi of depth to his character though, as we see that he is able lớn use the Evol Driver và upgraded Rider System due to lớn his status as a cyborg. When he dies, though, he overloads and short circuits, giving Evolt the room he needs lớn land a killing blow. No one mourns for him the way they vì chưng for Grease, as Utsumi spent the majority of the series as a primary antagonist. For Grease, on the other hand, there is genuine grief shown on the part of his teammates. By the end of the episode, when they know he has fallen, they look defeated, exhausted, genuinely broken up over the loss of a friend as they should.

This whole episode carries an air of finality, of the grief the characters hold for their lost friend & the desperation they feel knowing he likely will not be the last of them lớn fall to lớn save their world. The preview for the next episode seems khổng lồ indicate this as well, as we see a single shot of Gentoku glowing purple và seeming khổng lồ fade away, in the style of Avengers: Infinity War.
